Just a tip here! For the last 3 yrs, I have cut my plants into managable pcs., Then hung them up-side-down, in the basement. (Yes stems & all, including sm. green (tomatoes)I put the larger ones in a cardboard box to ripen OR make fried green tomatoes! 2 of 3 yrs., I was still eating fresh tomatoes in Dec. Hey, it's worth a try & only takes a few mins., esp. when you're out there whacking/cleaning them up anyway!
